One of the most admired artists in Europe in the mid nineteenth century and the first Catalan painter who radically imposed himself internationally. Fortuny and Rosales coincided studying natural drawing in the Accademia di Giggi in Rome; together they frequented the Caffè Greco and visited churches, palaces and museums of the city.
