With clear Republican wing and Catalonian convictions, he remained faithful to the constitutional government during the Civil War. Ventura Gassol, Minister of Culture of the Catalan Government, housed the whole Anglada family- wife and 3 year old daughter, along with political figures and figures of the cultural world such as Viladomat, Joan Mirambell, Robert Gerhard, Josep Trueta, Antoni Rovira i Virgili amongst others in the Montserrat Monastery to avoid its destruction.
