Ramon Martí Alsina

Barcelona, 1826 – 1894)
Campos de trigo en verano (Wheat Fields in the summer)Oil on canvas 84 x 166 cm

Attracted by the work of Gustave Courbet, the result of his travels in Paris, he engaged in the same belligerent pursuit of maximum objectivity.

Marti Alsina changed the aesthetic tendency of Catalan painting of his time, but we especially owe him the triumph of landscape painting as a genre, even when it was not recognized as such.
